Skipping dinner to cut calories only leaves you ravenous by bedtime and messes with your metabolism long-term? This baked milk oatmeal with banana is my go-to satisfying weight loss dinner — warm, creamy, and naturally sweetened by ripe fruit, with enough fiber and protein to keep you full overnight without excess calories. It comes together with basic pantry staples, and feels like a cozy treat instead of a diet compromise
Ingredients
- 200g rolled oats
- 1 ripe banana
- 1 large egg
- 20g raisins
- 1 packet milk powder
- 10g almonds
- Optional topping: shredded coconut or extra rolled oats
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Prep all ingredients first. Rinse raisins thoroughly with warm water to remove any surface residue, then pat dry. Chop almonds into small pieces. Sort through rolled oats to remove any debris.
- Combine oats, rinsed raisins, chopped almonds, milk powder and egg in an oven-safe glass bowl. Stir vigorously until everything is evenly mixed and the egg is fully incorporated into the mixture.
- Bake in a preheated oven for approximately 20 minutes. For the best fruit texture, add sliced banana during the last 5 minutes of baking — adding it too early will overcook the banana into mushy, watery pieces that make the whole bake soggy.
- Once fully baked, remove from the oven and sprinkle a light layer of shredded coconut or extra rolled oats over the top for subtle crunch. Serve warm.
- Microwave alternative: If you don’t have an oven, microwave on high for 5 minutes first. Check doneness, and continue cooking in 1-minute increments until the center is fully set.

Notes
- Banana texture hack: Add banana slices late in the baking process. This keeps them soft and fruity without turning mushy, which would water down the oat base and ruin the creamy texture.
- Portion guidance: This recipe makes one generous dinner serving, or two smaller snack portions. Adjust the oat quantity if you prefer a lighter meal.
- Almond benefit: Small portions of almonds add satisfying crunch and healthy fats without derailing weight loss, and support skin health as an added bonus.
- Make-ahead option: Mix all dry ingredients ahead of time and store in an airtight container. Add egg and bake right before eating for the best fresh texture.
- Sustainable weight loss reminder: Stick to balanced, reasonable portions. Skipping meals entirely slows metabolism and makes long-term fat loss harder to maintain.
