Have you ever had a cold weekend afternoon when you were suddenly hit by a strong aroma of barbecue, making you drool? I have, and that aroma came from my own kitchen! Just last weekend, I used an air fryer to bake a pot of golden and crispy chicken thighs. The taste made me wonder if I was a hidden cooking god.
Here’s what happened. I originally planned to go out for food that day, but the wind outside was so strong that I shivered. I suddenly remembered that there were a few chicken thighs in the refrigerator, and then I looked at the air fryer in the corner. I suddenly had an idea and decided to make a big meal at home. I used the air fryer only occasionally to bake French fries before, and I was a little nervous about using it to bake chicken thighs this time.

Chicken thighs: Fresh chicken thighs, firm and tender.
✅Seasonings: Light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, oyster sauce, cooking wine, salt, sugar, black pepper, ginger slices, these are common seasonings, basically available at home.
✅Cumin: It is best to use the kind of powder and grains together, which is particularly fragrant when roasted.

Cut the chicken thighs vertically a few times to make it easier to season.

✅Then soak the chicken thighs in water for half an hour to remove blood and fishy smell, making the chicken legs cleaner.
In a bowl, add thirteen spices, light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, oyster sauce, cooking wine, salt, sugar and black pepper, and mix well. The marinade is ready

  • Pour the prepared marinade into the container containing the chicken thighs, add a few slices of ginger, and mix evenly with your hands to allow the chicken legs to fully absorb the flavor of the seasoning.

  • Put the marinated chicken thighs into the air fryer and bake at 200℃ for 25 minutes
  • When the chicken is halfway through baking, remember to turn it over so that both sides of the chicken can be evenly heated.
  • When there are 3 minutes left in the roast, sprinkle a layer of cumin on it. This way, the roasted chicken legs will be fragrant.
  • The skin of the roasted chicken thighs is slightly burnt, but the chicken is not fishy at all. Take a bite, it is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, leaving a lingering fragrance in your mouth. It is really delicious.

Notes

When cutting the chicken thighs, don’t cut too deep, otherwise it will dry out easily.
Be careful not to burn your hands when turning it over, you can use tongs to do it.
Be sure to sprinkle cumin, which is the finishing touch to make the chicken thighs more fragrant.

Used bone-in thighs like the recipe said, and WOW. Even my picky kid licked the plate. Minimal cleanup + dinner ready before the chaos of homework? YES. Pro tip: Doubled the paprika/garlic rub and threw in some potatoes halfway—BAM, full meal
